pontiac truck

may have a bad starter or ''clicky starter'' syndrome- many clicks of the solenoid, then it cranks and fires.

may do the clicky starter relay mod- tried it before on a different car, didnt work at all....will see, its a 5 minute wire up for testing- but i need it failed to fix it. i hate chasing electrical gremlins-

Had a complete flat , where i had to use the spare tire to get me home. when home, fixed said flat tire, and re-installed.

then a few days later, the other side on the rear was low- filled at work and drove home- once checked at home, found a 16 ga brad nail/staple that was easily removed and fixed. Did not even remove tire from car for repair.

I would much rather do my own repairs than some shop tell me what can and cant be repaired- just like the availability to purchase rebuild kits for oem components, just replace /repair the failed piece / component...now its full-on replacement with a cheaper built foreign knock off part, that sits on the shelf right beside the oem part....the price may lure many people in, but after failure of knock-off item alot quicker than expected....they question the actual savings...
I have learned that lesson myself with cheap parts, so more and more oem parts are being used on my cars. and the car hoard keeps me going as well. many oem parts still within arms reach.

Always looking for more...

by over-tightening the pinch bolt for the lh control arm ball joint, the clunking is gone....BUT the ball joint boot is torn, so i need to replace the control arm anyways......i dont trust how good that ball joint is, being that the boot is torn-and i didnt like the overall build quality of this control arm. the welds / stamp/ fitment are of poor quality , the passengers side is the same brand but has a way nicer build quality and fitment.

been busy with house / family stuff , but as long as the cars get basic maintenance, dont expect any major modifications this year.

changed oil n filter.

starter clicks when hot (heat soaked) works fine when cold.
will look for a gear reduction starter in my parts bins.

will also change the thermostat- current is a winter 195* or 198*- will install the oem turbo 180* thermostat- the engine temp is warmer than what i like to see...

gear reduction starter works good. engine runs cooler in the summer heat with the 180 t-stat.

swapped out to summer tires- i ran the winters until they were almost bald- get my moneys worth !!

engine rpm still has a full dead stop before it hits the rev limit / fuel cut... annoying- its electrical, just need to figure it out....

russel took a hard hit to the front end. engine pushed back all bumper stuff destroyed transmission leaking oil bad, wastegate bent up

managed to drive! the car off the highway, to a gas station. called wifey and she came to town with the tow bar, towed it home.

no damage to the other guy- he had a cast iron buyers receiver in his truck's hitch, thats what poked into russel.

i had nowhere to go, that was the best i could do. oncoming traffic/ median to the left, and moving traffic on my right- i had no choice

top rad support not bent. lower rad support not bent.

too much on my plate right now - just dumped a bunch of parts into the kids car. have a timing component set to do in my sons toyota-fucking yuck.
roof on my shop is screwed. that needs replacement (major job) ...
all in all a shitty summer

but hey i am driving my '92 bluemetro again-dropped a battery in it, fired right up. ye haw 1.0 autotragic !

Whoaw sounds like a scary moment.
Glad you are okay.
Yes more work but thats better than spending time in the hospital.

Good luck with the roof, the kids car and Russel 2.0

the temp trans i had on hand, for russel, went into the kids car- his puked the diff pin. the trans that went into the kids car? bad syncros. oh well will pull a different trans from another car that was driving, but barely running....and swap that into the kids car.
