the brakes on the kids metro- drums look the same. yup, those are shot, and the slave cylinders were both leaking, as well one of the adjusters has stripped teeth-so would not hold proper adjustment-
i had new wheel cylinders and shoes on hand- but not drums-
kid went out to a parts car and found a nice set of evenly worn brake shoes and drums- brake shoes within 1 mm of being new-!!!
removed the old parts from his car, cleaned up the backing plates, install new wheel cylinders and the parts taken from the parts car- then bleed brakes/ flush brake system-
he went for a test drive, brakes are 110% better- all 4 are doing there job !

i am impressed how clean these drums are. managed to re-use parts, that would otherwise get thrown out- and yes, i made sure all the used parts were still within spec to be re-used.
then installed winter wheels and tires.
son installed his old brakes and drums onto the parts car, so it could still be moved if need be. they are marked with large red 'x' so we know those are garbage-
then did a brake flush on the '92 that i am driving- its been a few years since the brakes have been serviced/ inspected , other than looking at the pads when swapping tires-
thats the brake fluid i removed from the system -like black coffee- high % of moisture on my tester....
all flushed out with fresh synthetic fluid. cleaned the master cylinder with fresh fluid and a syringe, sucking out the garbage at the bottom of the master cylinder instead of pushing that thru the lines when we bleed the brakes.
all ready for another season of driving.
