What did you do to your Swift today

may have found the culprit for the oil consumption....pcv valve hung up, sucking straight oil from the valve cover when at high revs down the highway-
install new valve, changed oil-
and the next day, after going to work and back, oil was still at the same level, and clean !!! maybe a win win !!!
now the transmission leak....

nope-clogged the new pcv in 1 trip- oil down one liter!!
remove pcv, clean port with seafoam, q tips and pipecleaners
installed ANOTHER new pcv valve
needs another oil change-dirty oil already-but will check the pcv port before the oil change-and re-clean if needed.

kid changed oil in my daily driver- swapped out a deformed drain plug that would not seal properly. pcv valve was ok. oil was DUUURRRTY only after 2 trips to work and back.

i changed oil in the kids daily driver- nice brown color, almost at the same level as when it was changed- this engine doesnt use much oil. this was one of my last actual top to bottom rebuilds, about 6 years ago since rebuilding it....

replaced transmission in the kids car- had no 3rd gear syncro, and 2nd & 4th were getting grumpy as well....
also changed 1 transmission mount.

putting parts into another car. engine runs decent. had a extra happy helper as well !!IMG_2646.JPGIMG_2647.JPGIMG_2650.JPGIMG_2654.JPGIMG_2655.JPGIMG_2653.JPG
decent day. need some more wheel studs, and different grease for the wheel bearings...

Took both side mirror complete assemblies off.

The plastic holding the motorised inserts has become brittle after 35-odd years of service and the inserts are flopping around loose. (Pretty much held in by the wiring loom alone!) Unbelievably though, the motors themselves still work completely fine which is a big plus!

Now I have to find a way to try and repair them as it looks like they’re incredibly scarce these days. Failing that, gluing back into into place using silicone sikaflex may have to suffice...

I Have had that before.
I was able to reweld the broken plastic.
With a solder iron and some plastic. That I had from my motorcycle bodywork.
Just sharing how I repaired it before.
Might work for you to.
Good luck ;)

frame horn rot has claimed another suzuki
the underbody brace is most likely the only thing holding it together

it was fun
mike's most aggressive cams
custom tune chip, 8800 rpm

I need the cams. Any chance you are parting it out?
no. not yet at least. dont want to shoot myself in the foot , if a rust free body comes along....they are still out there.... why part out a running ,''driving'' car? my best bet would be to sell the entire car, IF i had to.....

Hi Everyone,

UPDATE:

Here is where I freely admit that I am a terrible person. (Maybe we should change the thread topic title to “What awful thing did you do to your Swift today…” )

Faced with no spares and no easy way to find any, I resorted to somewhat alternative means of executing a repair (!)

The picture below says it all - and as the Coca-Cola Company used to say; “Coke Adds Life!”

Trouble is it worked. Beautifully. I also might add: “Don’t try this at home, Viewers…":ROFLMAO:

Then I used my GTi to have lots and lots of fun while taking the rest of the cans I’ve accumulated to the recycling centre (minus four tabs) and still got my 10 cents worth for each… :sneaky:

(And yes, that is a 4G x 9mm Marine Gauge SS316 stainless steel self-tapping metal thread screw… I do have ‘some’ standards you know…);)

Happy Days!

bought a replacement for the suzukis
1999 honda accord
2.4 5spd, loaded with many options

vert is on new tires and new windshield installed. windshield was harder to find- BUT a windshield from a 2 door hardtop fits perfectly. minor difference in the tinting at the top of the glass.
car handles nice with all new kyb struts
may clean it up and sell- 'verts are not my kind of car...

checked oil in the trans in the kids car. leaves a small spot on the floor-shift shaft seal or axle seal-already changed axle seal 3x. axle 2x ....but how would a shift shaft seal leak upwards?
clean the area and check in a day or so-oil level was fine-

buying this honda- still doesnt fix the issue of me having to fix something. different car, different problems. but happy wife happy life right???? nope she is still bitching but now its because i am fixing items on this HONDUH on week-ends, AS WELL AS doing repairs/ maintenance on the suzuki the kid is driving-

i should have rebuilt another 1.0- i do have all parts on hand-
might be done with it all soon anyways
