Valve cover painted. Seriously contemplating this colour for the car. It’s the colour of my truck. Thoughts?

All good stuff, but I haven’t even begun to make those decisions yet. This is a future build. One engine at a time…and this one is taking quite some time.

Thanks brother. I appreciate the in-depth response. This is what I love about site forums over social media - it allows for fruitful, educated discussion. I am hoping we can rebuild the popularity of this site, as there seems to be quite an international following for our cars. So given your respons...

BHP limit on OEM G13b connecting rods

For the folks who have boosted their G13b using oem rods with either G15, G16 or Honda D-series pistons, do you have any idea how much hp the stock rods can take, or how much boost? Let’s say 8.5:1 CR on a standard T3 or T25 turbo.

Offered up the head for motivation, but gonna take a respite from the engine to focus on the chassis…in particular the engine bay.

Got my piston rings in 0.010” oversized. When I checked my ring gap though, there was none, even a slight overlap, so tomorrow I’ll go by a friend’s shop with the block and have them filed to suit. I’ll probably go for a gap of 0.25mm since I’m running a CR of 12:1 and revving to 8600. https://i.img...

Has anyone opted for aftermarket seats in their GTi? Mine need to be re-upholstered but given the cost of doing that, it may be easier and cheaper to put in seats from another vehicle and swap the rails. Has anyone here done this?

Don’t you just hate waiting around? Well, I do. So while the boffins search me some piston rings, I began the bottom end assembly. https://i.imgur.com/OucM4rs.jpg Crank and main bearing caps are in. https://i.imgur.com/BnnUzkk.jpg Rear main seal as well. https://i.imgur.com/rBdaqiN.jpg And the oil p...

Still waiting on my parts suppliers to locate new rings...apparently 0.010” oversized G13b rings is an extremely tough thing to find locally. Also having a time getting the axle carrier bearing and seals locally. If by next week I can’t locate them, I’ll have to look at maybe car parts dot com or ro...
