Hi, does anybody have a service manual for the rhb32? I need to rebuild and was looking for any tips/torque specs, etc.

No, I have that one. Looking for one for the actual turbo. I heard from a few others that when you rebuild them, they don’t last long. Not sure how true that is.

ok…gotcha. sorry dont have that one….like anything else one rebuilds, I don’t see why it would not last long…..as long as you have a good core, and decent rebuild parts that is.

I have seen very little as far as information for IHI turbos. This was my IHI rhb5 rebuild:

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=669

Every fastner on the turbo is tiny. The wheel nut I believe is reverse thread and is minimal torque. It is like tightening the nut on a chop saw blade except this will be only an 8mm nut. The rebuild kit info had the torque value, but I don’t have it anymore. The screws that hold the plates together are tiny and are a pain to get out. I believe I used red hot locktite upon assembly. If you read the rebuild information you should be able figure out when a unit can be rebuilt and when it cannot be rebuilt.

Thanks, I’ll take a look at the thread. Currently, the turbo is doing ok besides leaking oil through the seals. I don’t want to potentially mess it up without a backup plan.

Any luck on getting additional technical info?

I came across the leaflet. I think I know where it is, but to be honest there is a really good chance that you won’t be able to rebuild it. You most likely will need a new turbine, and the CHRA rear sealing surface can also be F.B.A.R. I bought a new IHI turbo from some unknown Ebay dealer for cheap, and I got nothing be leak from the CHRA, not to mention it was pressuring my crank case. I’ll be down at the shop tomorrow I’ll see if I can round up the leaflet that came with the rebuild kit.

By the way the hot side casing between the 32 and 31 will not be interchangeable. I have no idea about the compressor side.
