I was going to pull the steering wheel on my ’93 GT but could not get the horn button to come off. I’ve never had to pull a Mk3 wheel so I’m wondering what the trick is.

1 or 2 blunt butter knives.. use to pry up on edges of recessed round button cover.. should just pop off

Thanks Tom,

That would be my usual method but I used a hooked pick and I could not get it to come off. Ivan’s FB group gave me a response to push in and turn counter clockwise. I’ll try that, then the dull knives.

wow I learned something today too.


my Cultus button pried off with a knife.. but that was only because it wasn’t turn and locked in place like you said. Now the logo lines up properly..

spring loaded white discs lock into 3 holes when round horn button is pressed in and then turned counterclockwise. spring pressure pops off button.
