yes sir, used a '‘grooving iron’‘ specially made for just this purpose. all my tires get a ’‘once over ’' when the tread gets to a certain point…some tires are really easy to make better, others, well, not much can be done for them. its the same machine they use on commercial truck tires and on monster truck tires ( to make those tractor tires lighter)
when i am done with a set of tires, i am done with them. i get my monies worth !!! considering the tires pictured, i paid $12 each , brand new at wal-mart, a few years ago ;-) ;-) .. i should have bought more than 12 of them….

yesterday…
fixed a vibrating heater motor. junk in blower wheel-cleaned blower wheel, lubed motor. installed cross-over tube better than the factory did, it had a large cold air leak before the heater core…
installed ¾ rad block, for winter highway driving.
replaced pass side door lamp switch.
re-worked the pass side seat, now it slides ahead when flipped forward for pass rear seat entry. adjusted cable and lubed rails.
vacuumed out car
adjusted washer sprayer nozzles
made sure the block heater / intake heater is working
spare tire is good, winter emergency road kit is good. …

helped my kid with an '‘ impromptu’' trans swap…AGAIN….this time i didnt have a loose spare auto, had to pull one from another car…

he was driving along , on his way to work, it shifted from 2nd to 3rd, and made a terrible noise , made the car jump and shudder…at about 4050 k/mh…..and then just grinding when in gear..

wife came back to town AGAIN in the morning with the tow-bar, grabbed the youngest son from school, picked up the car and dragged it home…. (we live ½ hour from town)
wife and youngest son put his car in the shop, as well as the donor car.

i left work at 5, picked up the oldest son, some extra atf, and headed home….

we ate some dinner, then tackled the job… i pulled the power unit from the donor car, my son pulled the trans from his car…i had my powerplant/ trans combo out in two hours…

and now for the carnage!!!

easy access diff check window behind the torque convertor….and top of the case….and bottom of the case….
and if you look close, you can see half of whats left of the split pin, that holds the diff pin in place….yup, decided to let go!
started at 8 pm, had it swapped in and running at 3 am….what a run !!!
too late to get any shut eye, will have coffee and breakfast and go to work….
