Yeah, running much better, like I said ran some Seafoam and Heet through the tank. and couple tanks of gas run through and back to normal…very fun to drive.

Getting nervous about continuing to run this gt Even with very low compression(I need to do a psi reading again) I gets up and moves very well and fun in traffic. But starting is very hard…. it revs pretty quick with the starter motor but most of the time will not start unless I put my foot into the accelerator some and then let off… then it will catch on low rpm and then will cycle up and down(to 1500 then back to 900 or so) until it warms up good.

The bad thing is it does experience a kick back like a back fire during starting again strange

Really do not want to burn/break a valve and do some major mess up of the engine.

Does not burn oil but does run rich to get it started… can smell gas…. only at start

Check engine like came on today took the code reading 15 42 and 51 for Engine coolant temperature senor error… Ignition bypass circuit error…. and PROM error/incorrect MEM-Cal

hope this does not mean my ecm is not starting to go out.

15 is engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT sensor). This is consistent with the rest of your start up issues. I would visually make sure the sensor is in good shape, but more importantly the wiring for this tends to get brittle and break after thirty years.

42 is the crank angle (later re labelled as camshaft position sensor) sensor error. The sensor inside the distributor. Make sure the gap is set correctly. I believe from memory it is 0.008″ to 0.011″. Make sure your distributor inside is dry.

51 is an EGR system error (California only models).

What were you using to run codes?

I just used the fuse into the diagnostic location and then counted the check engine light flashes Did this multiple times… came up the same. In the last week have not had those any codes return.
